The strangely named Egg
credit card company first launched their brand in nineteen
ninety eight and are the worlds largest purely online bank with
around three point five million customers. Quite an achievement
when various companies have tried and failed in their attempts
to create internet online financial service brands.
Egg have floated their company on the London Stock exchange, first going public in the year two thousand, just two years after initial launch. They are now owned by one of the leading financial services companies in the United Kingdom, one which have been in existence for quite some time – Prudential Plc. The shareholders own a twenty one percent interest in the company with Prudential having the controlling interest at seventy nine percent of Egg’s shares.
The company owes much of its success to the clever advertising campaigns and wide media exposure gained on their launch. The quirky advertisements across a whole range of media made sure they were noticed and the brand name certainly stuck in a lot of peoples minds being quite far apart from the corporate sounding brands which dominated the market at that time.
The Egg company
ethos is to provide Egg
credit card holders and their other customers with maximum
flexibility and is one of their key selling points. Allowing internet
access means you can check on balances and statements twenty four
seven with any fees and charges being completely transparent.
