Credit card protection

As credit cards are getting more popular amongst the people, its theft and forgery is gaining equal momentum. In recent times many cases of credit card fraud have cropped up. As a result credit card protection is of chief concern not only to credit cardholders but also to the credit card companies who are jointly loosing thousands of pounds every year because of credit card frauds and other credit card related crimes.

Thus a number of new techniques have been designed for credit card protection. One of the most recent methods is the Credit card insurance. This covers up your losses in case of card theft, loss, fraud or hacking. Your credit card can only be protected if you are more vigilant and active. There are certain points or steps to be kept in mind while protecting your credit card and they are:

  • The first step is to never keep your card and PIN together at one place. It is always advisable to keep both at different places known only to you.
  • Never flash your credit card in the public places like petrol pump, restaurants, shopping complexes or any other place where you’re using it.
  • Always tear the carbon copy of your receipt but don’t forget to keep the original as a record.
  • Keep a close look at your transactions and maintain a healthy record to cross check anytime.
  • Avoid giving your account and PIN number on the phone as people may fancy a chance to use them for their own selfish purpose.
  • Never respond back to the mails asking your credit card number, as it may be the ‘spam’ or the fake company.
  • Cross check the person with whom you are dealing before disclosing your credit card’s detail.
  • Opt for the credit card, which has your imprinted photograph and encrypted signature for the sake of better security.
  • In case of loss or theft inform the credit card issuer at the earliest in order to avoid wrong usage.
  • At the time of cancellation of your card tear it into four pieces making it unusable for anyone else.
  • Keep changing your PIN number frequently at the cash machine in order to avoid people knowing it.
  • The best way to ensure safety is to sign up for the credit card insurance, which will help you at the time of loss and theft.

Just by following these few steps and precautionary methods you can protect your plastic money and can use it judicially for longer period of time.
