A popular clothes store chain has become victim to credit card fraud, after discovering that fraudsters had managed to hack its systems in order to obtain the credit card details of consumers that were making transactions in the stores. TK Maxx enjoys a thriving trade, with a large number of customers conducting transactions and making purchases with the use of a credit card. Now thousands of customers are concerned about what might happen with their credit card details.
According to reports the thief has hacked the system that stores all of the customers' credit account details, fuelling concern amongst both management and customers of the clothing retailer. Although the company that owns TK Maxx, TJX, has alerted authorities to the issue this has not alleviated the worry from the customers of the retailer. Credit card fraud has become a big concern for many people, with fraudulent methods becoming increasingly sophisticated.
TK Maxx stores in other countries such as the United States and Canada have also been hit by similar security problems, and officials from the retailer have now stated that improved security measures are being put in place. However, despite these reassurances there is no guarantee that consumers will feel safe about using their cards in these stores and many think that TK Maxx could lose a lot of custom as the result of this scam.
Some have criticised the retailer for not implementing tighter security measures prior to the incident, which could have eliminated the risk of the security breach altogether. Although the new security measures may help in the future, there are customers that will be too worried to make card purchases in the store again due to the breach of security that has already taken place.
